FOV Determinations based on Scan Indication

  • Field of View (FOV) Dimensions: listed as WIDTH x HEIGHT
  • Resolution / Dose / Scan Times: larger FOVs have lower resolution, higher radiation dose, and longer scan times (with associated increased chance for movement artifact)
  • As Low as Diagnostically Acceptable (ALADA) drives the FOV guide below
    • Individualized Needs: anatomy for larger patients must be taken into consideration
    • Size: limit to capture Area of Interest with a small margin for error to ensure no mispositioning-induced retakes. Note: dimension options listed are approximate.
